Acids for your Skin Type

So before you dive into➡️ this blog you must know AHAs or Alpha Hydroxy Acids are water soluble and BHAs or Beta Hydroxy Acids are oil soluble. So choose your ingredients based on your skin type mentioned above👆. Now if you are applying any of the acids in your day time routine make sure you follow it up with a sunscreen to avoid any irritation.

First up is Salicylic acid which has been around for ages. It is known for its ability to exfoliate your skin, unclog pores and reduce acne.

Like Salicylic acid, Glycolic acid is also used as in exfoliation, for treating dull complexion, dark spots and helps give your skin that extra glow. However, be careful when using this in the morning as it increases sun sensitivity, so use a sunscreen to prevent any sun damage.

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. With 3 AHA ingredients (Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid & Citric Acid) to help loosen dead skin and even skin tone, coupled with BHA (Salicylic Acid) to fight acne, this serum contains serious exfoliating power.

Lactic acid is used mainly to treat dark spots, age spots, dull complexion, improves skin tone and reduce the appearance of pores. However unlike Glycolic acid Lactic acid is milder.

Lactic acid is very beneficial when added to any moisturizer. It will help exfoliate your skin and overall boost your skin's hydration.

Try the ultra-rich cream from Skinceuticals which is packed with lactic acid and glycolic acid to given you more even toned skin, while you sleep.

Mandelic acid doesn’t penetrate the skin as deeply as Glycolic acid, so it is less irritating to the skin. For this reason it can work well in ethnic skin which is more prone to rebound pigmentation and on sensitive skin. Mandelic acid's antibacterial properties are extremely helpful in treating acne. It also regulates sebum production which decrease the occurrence of breakouts.

Try the Ordinary's Mandelic Acid 10% + Hyaluronic Acid. A personal favorite of mine.

Tartaric acid is another AHA. It is found in grapes and helps exfoliate the skin's surface to stimulate collagen production for a more firmer complexion. My pick is REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask.

Malic acid is also known for a host of skin benefits, such as hydration, anti-ageing, improving skin texture and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. That's because malic acid promotes the shedding of the outer layer of skin cells, exfoliating away buildup and pore-clogging impurities.

My pick is SkinMedica AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser the main ingredient is Malic Acid, which helps remove dead cells and other impurities from your skin to diminish fine lines and illuminate your complexion.
