How long it really takes for Skin Care to Work

Since I can be impatient with my skincare I decided to find out how long it actually takes for my products to work on my skin... How many of you expect your skincare products to show you quick results ❓❓ But skincare requires some patience. It can start showing affects within minutes but can take much longer to show us the desired results.

Alpha Hydroxy Acids or AHA is a range of ingredients that includes glycolic acid, mandelic acid, tartaric acids, etc. It helpful in exfoliating your skin, brightening you skin, reducing acne and reducing wrinkles.

When you start using it you will see a more radiant complexion immediately. However, its anti-ageing benefits take longer to kick in. Using AHA consistently can take 6-42 weeks to minimize the appearance of wrinkles.

Beta Hydroxy Acid or BHA mainly consists of Salicylic acid which is mainly used as an anti-acne treatment. It definitely penetrates your skin more than AHA. You can expect to see reduced appearances of acne in 2-4 weeks.

Product I recommend: Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum. With 3 AHA ingredients (Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid & Citric Acid) to help loosen dead skin and even skin tone, coupled with BHA (Salicylic Acid) to fight acne, this serum contains serious exfoliating power.

Hyaluronic acid is a very well known ingredient that is know to hydrate your skin, make it plumper and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. In simple words it is like giving water to your skin.

The beauty of hyaluronic acid is that it starts working as soon as it is applied. It leaves your skin looking bouncy, plumper and hydrated in minutes. It improves fine lines and wrinkles in 8-9 weeks.

Ceramides is a fatty compound that bridges the gap between the cells within your skin with the skin cells on the surface of your skin. It hydrates your skin and is very good in reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

It starts showing its effects after 5 days. With everyday use of the product for about 1-9 weeks you will start noticing reduced wrinkles with smoother & plumper skin. Ceramides are also very good in improving your skin’s barrier.

Product I recommend: Dr Jart's Ceramidin Cream

Retinol is the anti-ageing superstar that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It gives your smoother more even toned skin.

Using a Retinol is like running a marathon. Your skin starts showing some improvements in about 8-12 weeks and it will continue to show improvements even after 48 weeks.

Product I recommend: Murad Retinol Youth Serum

Vitamin C or what is also known as Ascorbic Acid helps prevent the formation of melanin in your skin thus reducing dark spots and giving you a more even toned skin.

Once you add Vitamin C to your regime you start seeing brighter skin with faded dark spots and hyper pigmentation in about 3-12 weeks.
