Sensitive Skin? Don't worry...

Here are some Do's and Don'ts if you have sensitive skin.

Having any type of sensitive skin anywhere can be a real pain not only can you not wear or use any product you want, you also have to be careful of sudden change in weather which could affect your skin.

So does this mean you cannot use any product and have to stay in-doors. No! It only means you have to choose your products carefully and ensure that you wash your face as soon as you enter the house, to avoid any break-outs.

So what should you not do if you have sensitive skin. Like I mentioned in my earlier article avoid products with fragrances, parabens, sulfates, alcohol and avoid using hot water on your face instead wash it with warm water.

Here are some Sensitive Skin Do's

1. Use a gentle face cleanser like one from Cetaphil, CeraVe or Dermalogica. These cleansers are gentle on your face, removes dirt and impurities without striping your skin away of its natural oils. It leaves your skin clean and supple.

2. When it comes to taking care of sensitive skin, using the right moisturizer is very important. It helps boost your skin's protective moisture barrier. Every time you pass water through your skin, your skin's moisture barrier gets compromised making it more prone to dryness and being sensitive.

Which is why it is important to choose the right moisturizer for your skin which contain anti-inflammatory properties like Chamomile and Aloe Vera, fatty acids like Shea Butter and Hyaluronic Acid which help retain your skin's moisture. Still unsure, then here are my top picks...

a. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream - This is one of my all time favorites. It seriously keeps my skin moisturized for upto 24 hrs. It has an MVE technology, which is a patented technology that continuously releases moisturizing ingredients to give you that 24-hr hydration. And it has my top favorite ingredient Hyaluronic Acid.

b. Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream - One of my all time favorite derma brands. This, like all their other products have never failed me. It has a non-greasy formula which gives long lasting nourishment. It is very good for severely dry and sensitive skin.

c. La Roche- Posay Ultra Sensitive Skin Face Moisturizer - This dream product contains few ingredients which makes it excellent for your sensitive skin. This moisturizer is made from healing thermal spring water - it contains a deep hydrating formula that is light weight. The airtight packaging also keeps away any potential irritation preservatives from entering.

d. Dermalogica Ultra Barrier Repair - This waterless- silicone based moisturizer is made from oats and other active botanicals. It is formulated to target skin irritants and keep them at bay. It contains primrose oil and emollient silicones that helps strengthen your skin's outer layer and prevents irritations from happening in the future.

e. Avene Skin Recovery Cream - This deeply hydrating yet gentle cream is known to give your skin instant relief. The main ingredient in this product is thermal spring water. In fact I came upon this because I could not find La Roche- Posay in my store so picked this. It is equally good.
