Whats the difference between an Essence and a Serum?
This is usually applied after a toner. Application of essences is more widely done in Asia and is more of an Asian skincare routine. They are fairly unknown in the Western Beauty world. Essence is know as the love child of toner and serum. Lightweight like a toner and concentrated like a serum. They are of course not as concentrated as a serum and work to serve as a additional layer of hydration.
It contains a lot of essential nutrients, antioxidants providing a more targeted treatment. Essences should be applied by gently patting the product on to your skin for a quick absorption.

Laneige Hydra Essence - This product has worked really well for my dry sensitive skin. It helps to moisturize my skin at the required level, without irritating it. I have also seen in numerous places that this essence works well for people with normal and oily skin.
Like I mentioned before I have dry sensitive skin. So I make it a point to layer on my products to ensure that my skin is getting the care it needs. So after I apply my essence I apply a serum which I think is a must. In fact if you are looking to treat your skin for specific conditions like dryness, dullness, dark spots, etc then adding a serum to your routine is a must. Serums deliver a higher level of concentration as they are known to contain active ingredients which help resolve certain skin conditions. If your serum is thick you should massage gently it into your skin and if your serum is on the thinner side then pat it on to your skin gently.
